Kristen Bean

 

          Kristen Bean has over 14 years of experience teaching in the New York State Public School system. She began teaching in the East Meadow School District in 2003, working in McVey and Bowling Green Elementary Schools.  In the course of her carreer the enrollment of string players has nearly tripled. She has had several student groups perform at the NYSSMA Majors Festival including the school orchestras, duets, trios, and Chamber Orchestra.  She also teaches in the East Meadow Summer Music Program.
 

     Mrs. Bean studied Music Education at Hofstra University where she sat Concert Master for the Symphony Orchestra. She continued her Education at Touro College completing a Masters Degree in Literacy. 

 

     Mrs. Bean continues to teach privately to students of all ages and abilities.

 

 

Gary Henderson

 

     Gary Henderson is the band director at Bowling Green Elementary School in East Meadow, NY. Gary received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Hofstra University and his Master’s Degree in Jazz and Commercial Music from Five Towns College. Gary is the director of the Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts Youth Band. He is the founder and co-director of The Interplay Jazz Orchestra and the director of the Hofstra University Alumni Jazz Nonet, playing trumpet in both groups.  He is co-author of the book "The Prerequisites: A Sequential Method for Beginner Winds", and "FOUNDATIONS: 120 Chorales, Warm Ups, and Targeted Exercises for Band" published by Pinnacle Music Press, Inc.
